Our IPC Training Center in San Marcos, CA (San Diego area) provides you with the most widely used electronics assembly standard in the world for post assembly and inspection. The IPC-A-610 illustrates industry-accepted workmanship criteria for all three classes of electronics assemblies through full color photographs and illustrations. Nearly everything electronic in the universe depends on the printed circuit board (PCB), and because of this the IPC-A-600 has become one of the most widely used documents ever published by IPC. The IPC-A-600 Acceptability of Printed Boards and IPC-6012 Qualification and Performance Specification for Rigid Printed Boards documents have set the standard for PCB workmanship quality and provide comprehensive acceptance criteria with full color illustrations and photographs showing all types of printed board surface and internal conditions.

IPC 610 CIT Certification and Recertification Course

The CIT Certification Course is a 28 hour "Train-the-Trainer" course where an extensive paragraph-by-paragraph review of the IPC-A-610 Specification is provided. 

Topics covered include Handling Electronic Assemblies, EOS/ESD Requirements, Mechanical Assembly Requirements, Inspection & Identification of Solder Anomalies for both Leaded and Lead-Free Solders, Soldering Criteria for TH (Through-Hole), SM (Surface Mount), Discrete Wiring Assemblies, & Terminal Connections, Component Mounting for TH & SM, Component Damage Identification, Laminate, Marking, Cleanliness, Coating Conditions, and Skills for teaching the lesson plan effectively. 

Typically this course is completed within the alloted time with good English skills, which is required in order to pass the course certification tests. At the conclusion of the Course, students will be subjected to open and closed book multiple choice examinations, where an overall score of 80% is required in order to achieve certification.

IPC 610 CIS Certification and Recertification

The IPC-A-610 CIS Course & Recertification is a 24 hour course. The course is broken into 9 modules and provides an extensive, paragraph-by-paragraph review of the IPC-A-610 Specification.

Typically this course can be accomplished in 1 to 3 days (depending on level of class knowledge and English skills). All students must be trained to module 1. Modules 2 through 4 can be taught based on students need to know. At the conclusion of each moduel students will be subjected to an open book multiple choice examination. A score of 70% on each test is required to pass the course.

Our Master Trainer - Kathy Palumbo

Kathy Palumbo has been in the electronic industry for 29 years. Kathy graduated from DeVry University in 1985 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Electronic Engineering Technology and has worked for General Dynamics, ITT Corporation, Computer Science Corporation, KVB/Analect, Dense-Pac Microsystems, and Viking Components.  Kathy has held a wide variety of Electronic Engineering positions at these corporations, which include Design, Test, Manufacturing, Reliability, Quality, & Engineering management.  This broad background enabled her to gain a unique insight in all areas of Electronic Design, Test, Quality, and Manufacturing.  In 1999 she founded Production Analysis and Learning Services LLC, a full turnkey Electronic Engineering consulting company.  PA&LS is capable of providing Electronic Circuit & PCB Design, Manufacturing, Reliability, Quality, IPC Certification Training, & Maintenance Engineering support services as well as Technical Sales and Support Services for AMTECH solder products and Tharium BGA rework systems. She is also theCEO & Founder of Production Analysis and Learning Services LLC. 

Kathy is a certified IPC Master Instructor (MIT) for the IPC-A-610 & 600 documents, a certified IPC Trainer (CIT) for the J-STD-001 & IPC-A-620 documents, and provides technical support, presentations, and seminars at various OEM's and electronic trade shows and events. Kathy has served on the LA/OC SMTA Chapter board since 2002 in a wide variety of positions, which includes President, Secretary and currently as Vice President.  In 2009 she received the SMTA Excellence in Leadership Award.  Since 2003 Kathy has served on the Orange County IPC Designer's Council board as Treasurer, and is actively involved with local University Industrial Advisory Committee's.
