Industrial CT Scanners & 3D X-ray Inspection
Move beyond a projection image. Explore internal features in slices and three dimensions.
Creative Electron’s SMART CT™ technology brings 3D inspection to the TruView™ platform. Use reconstructed volume data to investigate internal structures when a conventional 2D X-ray image does not provide the view your application needs.
- Examine internal features in reconstructed slices and 3D views.
- Discuss rotational CT and planar CT for different sample geometries.
- Scope the system around your part, target features and analysis needs.

Choose the view that answers your inspection question
2D X-ray
Review a projection image for an overview or routine check. Features along the imaging path can overlap in the resulting image.
Rotational CT
Acquire multiple views as the sample rotates, then reconstruct a volume for slice-by-slice and 3D examination.
Planar CT
Discuss a planar approach for suitable flat assemblies or samples that are difficult to rotate. Sample geometry and the feature of interest guide the choice.
Turn internal images into useful inspection evidence
Failure analysis
Explore concealed features and their spatial relationships while investigating why a component or assembly failed.
Internal feature evaluation
Discuss porosity, inclusions, wall thickness or other analysis requirements. The sample, scan settings and selected software determine what can be evaluated.
Electronics & complex assemblies
Investigate internal connections and layered structures where a projection image may be difficult to interpret. Select the imaging approach around the region of interest.

SMART CT on a TruView platform
SMART CT combines X-ray acquisition and reconstruction for 3D inspection. Discuss available TruView configurations, sample handling and analysis tools with our team. For larger or unusually shaped samples, review platform geometry and available Fusion options before selecting equipment.
What affects industrial CT scanner price?
Industrial CT scanner cost depends on the sample envelope, material penetration, required image detail, scan workflow and analysis software. Automation and custom handling also affect the configuration. Send your part dimensions, materials and inspection objective so we can scope a system quote around the work you need to perform.

Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between industrial CT and 2D X-ray?
2D X-ray creates a projection image. CT combines multiple views to reconstruct internal information that can be explored in slices and 3D, helping separate features that overlap in a projection.
Is planar CT the same as rotational CT?
They use different acquisition geometries. Rotational CT rotates the sample; planar CT uses a different approach suited to certain sample shapes. The appropriate method depends on the part and inspection question.
Can I add CT capability to an existing TruView system?
Ask our team to review your system model and configuration for SMART CT compatibility. Include your current equipment details and the samples you want to inspect.
How do I choose an industrial CT scanner?
Start with sample size and materials, the feature you need to resolve, inspection volume and required analysis outputs. These requirements help define the imaging geometry, hardware and software to quote.
