Revealing Sounds with Steve Mould

Among other things, Steve Mould is both creative and curious.  It’s why we were so excited to work with him when he told us he wanted to get a look inside some Peruvian whistling vessels (without having to smash them with a hammer).  Since “X-ray everything” is kind of a mantra around here, we went for it!

  • X-ray everything!
  • Non-destructive satisfaction
  • Stay curious, be creative

Let’s X-ray it!

We are constantly looking for new and interesting things to examine in our X-ray systems.  The opportunity to learn more about the things around us by getting a look inside them are seemingly endless.  When we discovered Steve Mould’s amazing YouTube content, and watched him smash an assassin’s teapot with a hammer in order to see how it worked, we sensed an opportunity.  Lucky us! When we reached out, he shared his interest in Peruvian whistling vessels, and agreed to send some our way for X-ray inspection.

Image it, image it, but don’t break it!

Peruvian whistling vessels are pretty special, and all hand made by traditional craftsmen.  As such, Steve was reluctant to have them meet the same fate as the poor teapot.  Fortunately, we’ve employed X-rays for years for the purposes of non-destructive testing, so his whistling vessels were in safe hands.  And boy did we learn a lot about what was going on inside these guys.  And because we didn’t have to damage them to get a peek inside, we were able to get them back to Steve intact to continue his experimentation.  We learned a lot from his great video about how these work, and also a super cool trick to make a 3D image come alive.

Living our core values

We are serious about our core values here at Creative Electron, and among them we prize curiosity and creativity.  We are always looking for creative ways to utilize our X-ray super powers.  It’s why we love working with content creators like Steve Mould, and the folks at Veritasium, just to name a few.  If you are a content creator who’s presentations might benefit from getting a look inside something, we invite you to reach out.  Get creative, stay curious and X-ray everything!  Oh, don’t forget to check out Creative Electron’s own YouTube channel too!
