You never know what’s inside!

You never know what’s inside!

When a product rolls off the assembly line, though all precautions are taken to maintain the highest of standards, there is always the chance something will go wrong. Be it electronics enclosed in a sealed case, power strips, a picnic lunch, or novelty bouncy balls – x-ray technology offers a look inside never available before. To exemplify this, the experts at Creative Electron chose to put our new custom tool, a unit based on our Prime machine, to the test. What better way to do this than go out and buy – you guessed it – a bag of novelty, light up, go crazy bouncy balls.
Here’s how they work. Out of the bag, these balls look and feel like soft, rubber orbs. A printed smiling face looks up at you with expectant glee. When you bounce it, the impact results in an array of colorful lights pulsing under the rubber skin. Very satisfying.
Then we killed one. Don’t worry, it didn’t feel a thing.
As you can see, the ball was working when we shot our clip. Then we subjected it to a very enthusiastic playtime. I’m sure the testing grounds used to gauge this toy’s durability paled in comparison to our fun. A few minutes later, our vigorous game of slam and smack, rendered it lightless. All that was left was a scuffed, still smiling face.
How? What happened? As is our custom, it was off to the custom TruView™ Prime to take a look inside.
We discovered the ball had an ingenious impact triggering technology to offer up its pulsing joy. Be it the battery life or the fragility of the mechanism, the life expectancy of this ball was designed to be short. How could it not? The fact that the light is activated by violence guaranteed eventual failure.
In the evolving culture of Creative Electron, we continue to search for new applications to service the ever-expanding role of x-ray in the fields of quality control, counterfeit parts discovery and failure examination. So, if a bouncy ball has to sacrifice itself for the greater good? So be it.
But nothing is in vain, the brave little ball still bounces and is still played with to this day. An example that all sacrifices are worth the fruits of the outcome, even for a small, light-up ball.
